REINDEER ANTLERS WITH REFLECTIVE PAINT

Every year in Finland, about 4,000 reindeer are killed being hit by cars. Now, the Finnish Reindeer Herders Association is testing out a new way to make the large animals more visible to drivers: reflective paint. The idea is to spray the antlers of reindeer with paint that reflects motorists’ headlights. The spray is being tested on fur at the moment, but it’s believed that it will be even more effective on the antlers, because they are seen from every side.
* They figure if they start now, they can have about a dozen painted by the end of the month.
* Sounds weird, but it was either this, or body armor.
* Y’know, you could mount little solar panels on the antlers and string ’em with lights.
* You know what they want to do, right? They want to put the paint on Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer and Vixen…
* Why not paint them Day-Glo and replace the streetlights with blacklights. That would be cooler.
* Although then it’ll be, like, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and Dubstep.
