RAW HERRING ICE CREAM

An ice cream parlor in the Netherlands has started selling raw herring ice cream. Owner Robin Alting sells it in his shop in Rotterdam. The divisive flavor is a frozen blend of raw herring, onion, sugar, and cream. It’s been described as having the texture of traditional ice cream but the strong taste and smell of herring. Even Mr. Alting suggests sampling his unique creation in small portions rather than several big scoops.
* His slogan? “You’ll be hooked.”
* This would be a goldmine if he advertised it for cats. And pregnant women with weird cravings.
* I don’t think Ben & Jerry are losing any sleep over this.
* Buy a scoop for yourself, and one for your chum.
* Call ahead. The Netherlands is about eight hours ahead of us, so the ice cream parlor may have gone out of business already.
* Don’t trust a fish even sushi chefs won’t touch.
