RAT, OTTERS, TURTLES, MARMOT, MORE SMUGGLED ONTO PLANE
Mayhem broke out Wednesday on a plane from Bangkok to Taiwan when a white rat and an otter smuggled aboard by a passenger got loose in the main cabin during the flight. It happened aboard a low-cost VietJet Air flight. Air hostesses freaked out upon noticing what passengers described as an albino rat and a nearly 1-foot-long otter scurrying around on the floor. Once the plane landed in Taipei, a police search also located a box containing 28 live turtles, a snake, one marmot, two otters and two other rodents of unknown species among the luggage (* ♫ “…and a partridge in a pear tree … ♪♪”). A female passenger was determined to have smuggled the critters through security at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Thailand. The woman, when caught, then demanded a refund.
* This service animal thing is really getting out of hand.
* It’s the first airline with an in-flight zoo.
* It was an Asian flight. I would have thought the critters escaped from the plane’s galley during food prep.
* Airport security will confiscate your open bottle of Snapple but god forbid they pat you down for otters.
