QANTAS “FLIGHT TO NOWHERE” SELLS OUT IN 10 MINUTES

Australian air carrier Qantas announced a seven-hour scenic “flight to nowhere” – a flight that will depart from Sydney and return on the same day, taking passengers for low-level scenic views over sites like Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef. The flight sold out in 10 minutes. Buyers quickly snatched up the 134 available seats, priced between $575 and $2,765 depending on the seating class. The plane will be a wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which was designed with big windows. A spokeswoman said, “People clearly miss travel and the experience of flying.”
* Let’s do the math:
[based on this diagram of a 787 Dreamliner: https://www.united.com/ual/en/us/fly/travel/inflight/aircraft/787-10.html]
– A Dreamliner has 42 rows x 2 sides = 84 window seats.
– Except 28 of those seats (14 rows x 2 sides) are directly over the wings. 84 minus 28 = 56 actual window seats with an unblocked view.
– 134 seats sold minus 56 window seats with an unblocked view = 78 people who are not going to have a very good view.
– Not to mention, you usually can only see things out one side of the plane as you fly by.
– But I’m sure the complimentary savory snacks will be delicious.
* Flight to Nowhere, money for nothing, same difference.
* When I saw “Flight to Nowhere” I thought it was just a regular flight to Pittsburgh.
