POLICE CHASE: NOW YOU CAN!

Ever wonder what it would be like to be in a police chase? A British company called Trackdays offers real-life driving experiences, and one of their experiences is called Police Pursuit. The chase takes place on a course set up at Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire, U.K. You start with a brief lesson covering the course, acceleration and braking technique, as well as safety and etiquette. (* Where’s the etiquette in a police chase? Oh, wait – it’s Britain. They have to do everything properly.) Then, 10 minutes of practice laps with an instructor, and finally, 15 minutes of police pursuit action, in which you try to evade cops driving a Dodge Charger, while you’re in a Mazda MX-5 or Porsche Boxster. If the trailing Police Interceptor gets too close, their searchlight will be trained on you, meaning you got caught and the chase is over. The cost: $189 (£138) for the Mazda MX-5 experience and $271 (£198) for the Porsche Boxster.
* And for an extra 20 bucks, after they catch you, they’ll drag you out of the car and beat you.
* And for an extra 50 bucks, they’ll give you a toot of methamphetamine before the chase, for extra realism.
* Do they have, like, a fruit cart set up you can crash into?
* For a fully authentic experience, race out of Bovingdon Airfield as fast as you can and try to make it to London.
