PLANE MISSES LANDING CUTOFF BY 10 MINUTES, HAS TO RETURN
This past weekend, a Japan Airlines flight out of Tokyo was faced with 90 minutes of delays. As the 2-hour flight approached its landing in Fukoka, the pilots discovered they would be ten minutes late, and were forced to turn around. Looking for somewhere to land, the plane was redirected to Kitakyushu, just an hour’s drive away from Fukoka, but that airport didn’t have enough buses for the plane’s 335 passengers. So, the plane was then directed to Kansai airport, nearly halfway back to Tokyo. They landed at 11 p.m., only to learn that Kansai, too, lacked the workers and infrastructure to handle 335 passengers. The plane took off again and returned to Tokyo, back where they started, seven hours later.
* Ten minutes late. Ten Fukokan minutes.
* Ten minutes. If only those two damn kids hadn’t wanted selfies with the pilots before they started taxiing.
* Yeah, Southwest Airlines cancelled 16,000 flights over Christmas. This story isn’t really getting to me.
* At least they made it back to Tokyo. In America, they would have landed the plane and sat on the tarmac until the next morning.
