PASSENGER CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AFTER FARTING IN UBER
A UK man has been charged with assault after allegedly breaking wind in an Uber and then attacking the driver for protesting. The incident happened last November but has just now come to trial. James Mallett, 35, is accused of letting one rip in the back of the ride while on the way to a local nightclub with three other people. This was the “last straw” for Uber driver Aleksander Bonchev, who had been suffering abuse from the other passengers. Bonchev told Mallet “to leave the vehicle,” and Mallet hit him in the head. Bonchev responded in defense by punching the Mallett in the face. Police eventually located Mallet and found him “plainly intoxicated” and abusive to police. Mallet received a suspended six month-jail term, a $650 fine and 120 hours of community service. But the driver, Mr. Bonchev, was unable to work due to a broken finger sustained during the fight. As a result, he lost his Uber job, vehicle and house, and has since returned to his home country of Bulgaria.
* Bulgaria? I’d think the smell would be better back in the Uber.
* If he can’t drive a car using nine fingers, he was in the wrong business anyway.
* Another reason to always wear a mask around others.
* If only the car had been a convertible.
* James Mallet is now known as “James the Ripper.”
