PARROT SERVED AS DRUG LOOKOUT

A parrot has been taken into custody in northern Brazil following a police raid targeting crack dealers. The bird had been taught to alert criminals when police were nearby by shouting: “Mum, the police!” The parrot was seized on Monday afternoon when officers raided a drug den run by a local couple. Police noted that as they got close, the parrot started shouting. Said one officer, “He was well-trained for this.” Although, while it was in police custody, it didn’t say anything.
* Not even “Polly wants a lawyer”?
* It’s no stool pigeon.
* Police want the parrot to testify against the drug dealers. Yes, they’re literally trying to flip the bird.
* They threatened to put the parrot in jail but, come on, it’s lived in a cage all its life.
* “Mum, the police”? Why did Brazilians teach it to warn them in English?
* They’re burying the lead here. How did the parrot know when police were near? Telepathy?
