PAPAU NEW GUINEA SELLING FLEET OF MASERATIS

The Papua New Guinea government thought it was smart to purchase $5.6 million worth of Maseratis to impress world leaders. The 40 Maseratis – FORTY!!!! – were bought specifically for the Asian Pacific Economic Conference in 2018, so when the conference attendees landed they could be transported from the airport in a classy car. Now, three years later, the government of one of the poorest countries in the world wants to recoup some of their losses, so they’re ready to sell the fleet of Maseratis at an embarrassing loss. Says Finance Minister Sir John Pundari, “I don’t know the reasons we went down the path of purchasing Maseratis and now we are caught up with this dilemma.” The person in charge of making the mistake is long gone.
* And so is one of the Maseratis, I bet, along with a good portion of the treasury.
* For hosting an economic conference, the country could stand to learn a little more about economics.
* Nobody in the whole country wants to start a rental car business?
* The worst part? The cars are pea soup green with brown interiors.
* Once they sell the Maseratis, they intend to use the money invest in some Florida beachfront property.
