OVER-ANXIOUS BUNGEE JUMPER JUMPED TOO EARLY

A bungee-jumper plummeted to her death last Sunday in Amagá in northern Colombia. First-time jumper Yecenia Morales, 25, and her boyfriend had traveled to the Amagá viaduct – a popular bungee spot. The two were reportedly the 90th jumpers of the day when they approached the platform. Things went wrong after the operators signaled Morales’ boyfriend – who was ahead of her in line – to take the plunge. But, having the harness on and apparently thinking the cue was meant for her, Yencenia leaped off the bridge without an attached cord and plummeted about 164 feet down to the valley below. Firefighters pronounced her dead at the scene. A subsequent medical report said Morales may have suffered a heart attack before she hit the ground.
* But does it really matter?
* That’s a pretty fast heart attack, between where you think the cord should have kicked in and the ground.
* I would imagine bungee jumping is one thing where you want to listen very closely to instructions. Another would be trapezing.
* Falling off a bungee platform with no cord attached. That’s not something you bounce back from.
* And their wedding song was going to be “Since I Fell For You.”
