OLD MAN MOVES OUT, LEAVES GRENADE IN THE OVEN
An 82-year-old resident of a mobile home park in Bradenton, Florida, moved out on Thursday, when his 56-year-old son came and took him back with him to Lufkin, Texas. Before they left the K & K Mobile Home Park, the son asked a neighbor to clean up the mobile home and pack up all of his father’s belongings. On Saturday morning, the neighbor opened the home’s oven and found a pineapple-style grenade strapped to a package with duct tape. The package contained highly flammable nitrocellulose in solid form. One of the gas burners on the stove was turned on, but the flame was not lit. The sheriff’s office was called, and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad and the Manatee County hazardous materials team responded. The sheriff’s office was able to contact the resident and his son, who was “understanding and cooperative assisting in any further searches necessary,” according to the Sheriff’s office.
* One last blowout?
* Wow, how did a nutcase like this ever land in a nice place like the K and K Mobile Home Park?
* Gee, the damages could have been in the dozens of dollars.
* It sounds like he was saying, “If I can’t live here, then nobody can live here.”
* Just curious – did he have a grudge with that neighbor who was supposed to clean the place?
* And he had the nerve to ask for his security deposit back.
* Too bad it didn’t go off. The other residents could have had a nice swimming hole.
* Ever notice how old people can get a little cranky?
* “Welcome to Lufkin, Texas, Pop. By the way – you’re not allowed in the kitchen.”
