OFFICER SHOOTS GROUNDHOG CROSSING THE ROAD
A video posted to social media shows a Maryland deputy shooting a groundhog as it was trying to cross a road. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw traffic backed up and discovered the jam was caused by a groundhog walking into the roadway. The deputy got out of his vehicle to get the groundhog away from the roadway, but, according to the deputy, the groundhog was not acting normally. Believing the groundhog to be either sick or injured, the deputy shot it, putting the animal down “for the public’s safety.” The woman who posted the video to Facebook says she was shocked and “did not think that it would take this turn.” But she also said she was “sure the officer did the best thing in this situation.”
* Wait – she did this wrong. When you post things online you’re supposed to be shocked, appalled, and enraged. Then everybody piles on until the people commenting start flaming each other, and then you keep that up until somebody calls somebody “Hitler”. That’s the cue to move on.
* How does he know what normal behavior is for a groundhog?
* The groundhog was being more of a road hog.
* Why did the groundhog cross the road? It didn’t. Never got a chance to.
* “Groundhog Day 2: This Time It’s Personal”.
* A few states away from Maryland, a freshly shot groundhog would be called “Free Dinner”.
