NO SUCH THING AS “NOT MY TYPE”

A new study from social psychology researchers from University of California, Davis claims that people who believe they have a “type” are fooling themselves, and that singles “might as well let a stranger pick their dates.” The findings, published in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology, indicate that the complex algorithms that match online dating users may be a waste of time, and you’d do better just to date around, or let a friend or relative to suggest partners. Lead author Jehan Sparks says,“It’s really easy to spend time hunting around online for someone who seems to match your ideals. But our research suggests an alternative approach: Don’t be too picky ahead of time about whether a partner matches your ideals on paper. Or, even better, let your friends pick your dates for you.”
