NEW PHONE SCAM: DON'T SAY YES
There’s a phone scam that’s been going around the country. A caller – usually they say they are from a home security agency, cruise line, or social security firm – asks you a question that you answer “yes” to. Usually the question is “Can you hear me?” You say ‘yes,’ and it gets recorded. Then, they use that to authorize charges on a phone, utility or credit card bill. If you fight it they have you on tape saying “yes”. Authorities say if you get this kind of call, just hang up. Or better yet, if you don’t recognize the number of the person calling, don’t answer it.
* Thanks, technology.
* Also, if you say “Yes” three times, Mary Worth appears in the mirror behind you.
* What if your name is Yassir?
* How about if you say yes but with your fingers crossed?
* Generally, I’m against drone strikes but not if we catch these people.
* So answer every question on the phone with another question.
* If they say, “Can you hear me?” say “Do you mean that literally of figuratively?”
