NAPPING TEENS = FUTURE CRIME
According to a new study from the University of Pennsylvania and University of York in England, teenagers who nap after school on a daily basis may be more likely to become violent criminals later in life. Previous studies had found that teenagers who reported lethargy in the middle of the day were more likely to engage in adverse behaviors such as lying, cheating, fighting, and stealing. Using the data collected almost four decades ago, however, researchers were able to find a more surprising correlation: those who experienced daytime sleepiness as teens were 4.5 times more likely to be criminal offenders about 15 years later. The study was able to look into the records of the 101 students and found that 17 percent had been convicted of a serious offense – such crimes included violent acts and illegal acts against property.
* They’re napping at noon because they’re exhausted from sneaking out breaking the law at night. Duh.
* Does this include sleeping in class?
* So I guess we can throw out all those that said teens weren’t getting enough sleep and daily naps would fix them right up.
* Maybe teens from four decades ago turned out rough because they were being drowned in agitating grunge music.
