MUSEUM WORKER HANGS HIS OWN PAINTING IN GALLERY
A worker at Munich, Germany’s Pinakothek der Moderne art museum was fired back in February after he hung one of his own paintings in a part of the gallery dedicated to modern and contemporary art. The 51-year-old man had smuggled his work into the collection in the hope of achieving his artistic breakthrough. The amateur painting was spotted by staff soon after the museum opened the same day, but a decision was made to keep the picture on display while the gallery was open and take it down after closing time. His painting shared a room with works by Andy Warhol, Picasso, Max Beckmann and Paul Klee for an entire day. The museum said it would not comment on the painting’s subject or style as doing so could “encourage copycat pranksters.”
* They immediately spotted the painting as a fake because it actually looked like something.
* He maybe should have started smaller, like hanging his work in motel rooms.
* He was tired of his paintings always getting the brush-off.
* Now he’s claiming he was framed.
* He’s out of work so now he’s painting for a living. Painting houses. Sad.
