MORE ON MURDER HORNETS: THEY’RE DELICIOUS!

As zoologists and pest-control experts in America rush to eradicate the Asian “murder hornet” — the giant 2-inch long angry bees — it turns out that, in Japan, people eat them. In more rural parts of Central Japan, giant hornets have long been consumed in a variety of forms, valued as a traditional source of cheap protein. People have compared the taste to a popcorn-y flavor without the butter. Depending on how you prepare it, it can have different flavors. The 2-inch long adult insects can be pan-fried and skewered for an on-the-go treat.
