MAYOR DUMPS TRASH ON CLEAN BEACH FOR INT’L BEACH CLEANUP DAY
It was International Coastal Cleanup Day back on September 21st. In South Korea, Lee Dong-jin, the mayor of Jindo county, wanted to make sure his citizens would have enough to do, so he had a ton of trash dumped on a clean beach to give people something to pick up. Hundreds of volunteers scoured the shores and bagged up the garbage that wasn’t there the day before. The mayor later apologized and said the event was meant to “raise awareness about the seriousness of coastal waste”.
* I may be going wayyyy out on a limb here, but if the people are keeping their own coastline spotless, haven’t they already got the message?
* The sign said “Fine for Littering”, so he did.
* He had to do it. With no trash, there’d be nothing for the volunteers to take selfies of.
* I see a long future ahead in politics for this guy.
* God help this guy on International Orphan Awareness Day.
