MAN TICKETED FOR WARMING UP CAR IN HIS OWN DRIVEWAY

A Roseville, Michigan man was ticketed for warming up his car in his own driveway. Taylor Trupiano thought it was a joke at first. He says he was in and out in about 7 minutes, and during that time, a cop left a $138 ticket for leaving the keys in the ignition with the motor running and no one around. Frustrated with the ticket, Trupiano posted a photo on Facebook where he racked up thousands of comments and shares. But Roseville – and many, many cities across the country – have local ordinances about leaving your running car unattended. The practice is known as puffing. Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said they have five to ten cars stolen this way every winter. “And of course it drives everyone’s insurance rates up,” he added.
* “Not to mention the new iPads we can buy with the ticket money. Oops, did I say that out loud?”
* Should have put a dummy in the driver’s seat, you dummy!
* He thought it was a joke at first, ’cause, y’know, law enforcement types have such a great sense of humor.
* Puffing, not to be confused with huffing, where you suck on the exhaust pipe.
* Let this be a lesson; always bring your car inside to warm it up on a cold day.
* I blame myself for reacting poorly to this. Every now and then I still think we have private property in this country.
* The Police Chief is worried about our insurance rates? Seriously? That’s his explanation?
* Maybe but it’s also just fun being a hard-ass about stuff like this.
* “While we were ticketing your car on your property we noticed you’re not exactly up to code with your landscaping either.”
