MAN SHOOTS, RUNS OVER BALD EAGLE, PROUD SYMBOL OF OUR HOMELAND

A Virginia man admitted to shooting a bald eagle and then running over it several times with an all-terrain vehicle. Allen H. Thacker, 62, was sentenced to a month of house arrest Monday, in addition to 100 hours of community service at an area wildlife refuge and to pay $2,000 fine. A woman had witnessed Thacker driving an ATV over the bald eagle in March and reported him. Thacker pleaded guilty, saying he killed the eagle because it had been killing small game and eating fish on his property. Thacker said the eagle was a “menace”.
