MAN FAKED HIS OWN DEATH TO SEE HOW FRIENDS WOULD REACT

A Brazilian man faked his death out of pure curiosity, because he wanted to see who would attend his funeral. 60-year-old Baltazar Lemos works as a “professional ceremonialist,” conducting hundreds of funerals, some of which had been attended by as few as 2 people, others by as many as 500. He started to wonder how many of his friends and family would come to his funeral, so he posted a message on social media, announcing that “Baltazar Lemos left us,” along with a picture of himself in front of a hospital. His friends started sharing the tragic news, and at one point, the time and place of the wake and funeral ceremony were posted on his Facebook account. On January 18th, Lemos’ friends gathered in a small chapel for what they expected to be a funeral. What seemed like a recording started, recounting Lemos’ life. Then, the altar doors opened and Lemos stepped out in front of everyone. Some people started crying, most others were shocked. He started explaining that he had faked his death to see who would attend his funeral. Attendees started accusing him of cruelty. In the end, he said, “The truth is that I wanted to know who would come to my wake. I had no intention of hurting, offending, or causing any harm to anyone. I truly apologize to these people.”
* Ain’t nobody coming to his real funeral.
* At least everyone got to eat food from the wake, so what are they complaining about?
* It’s pretty weird, but it’s better than his first idea of rising up out of the coffin.
* At least he now knows who to leave out of the will.
* Most of the guests’ reactions were: “He’s dead to me.”
