MAN DAMAGES PICASSO PAINTING
A man attacked a $26 million Picasso painting at the Tate Modern art gallery in London last Saturday. Picasso’s 1944 painting titled “Bust of a Woman” was reported to have been ripped by the man, identified as 20-year-old Shakeel Massey. He was arrested and charged with criminal damage. The artwork depicts Picasso’s lover Dora Maar and was painted in Paris in May 1944, during the final months of the Nazi occupation.

* The damage is pretty severe. The eyes are crooked, the nose is on the side of her face and her mouth is all sideways.
* Oh, wait – that’s the ‘before’ picture.
* Was Dora in an accident? Did she face-plant at 50 miles an hour?
* According to one art expert who assessed the damage: “Hey – it looks better.”
* This painting was painted during Picasso’s famous “Crosseyed Period”, which lasted from when he was 23 to approximately the rest of his life.
