MAN ATTEMPTS SOLO ROW FROM U.S. TO SCOTLAND; MAKES IT 20 MILES

A man was rescued Monday morning off of the coast of New Jersey after attempting a solo transatlantic rowboat voyage. Duncan Hutchinson, 52, sent an S.O.S. Sunday night around 11:20 p.m. via marine radio that he was beset by bad weather while attempting a 3,260-mile transatlantic voyage from New York to Scotland. The Coast Guard rescue took place about 20 miles east of Barnegat, New Jersey, located at about the midpoint on the state’s coast. The weather on-scene was reported as being 21 mph winds and 8.5 foot seas.
* It was a little hard to understand his S.O.S. through all the noise. Of his barfing.
* He should try again. I’m sure that bad weather was just a one-time thing.
* Rowing to Scotland? He was nearly kilt.
* And then, a big wave washed his volleyball friend overboard.
* Well, he made it six-tenths-of-one-percent of the way there, so that’s nice.
