KIDS’ WEIRD BELIEFS
Reddit asked, “What’s the weirdest thing you believed as a kid?” Some of the responses:
– “I thought football players were really built that way. I didn’t know they had pads under their uniforms.”
– “I thought my stuffed animals had secret parties when I left the room.”
– “When I was a kid I used to run away a lot in the mall. One day my mom said ‘Do you know what happens to kid who run away in the mall and aren’t found?’ and she pointed at a mannequin.”
– “I thought a heat wave was some kind of actual transparent or translucent wave that would wash over you in summer.”
– “I believed that if I held a seashell to my ear, I was actually hearing the ocean. I thought it was some magical way of connecting to the beach, even if I was miles away.”
– “That if you drank lots of milk it would make your teeth whiter.”
– “That the reason you get a bigger head is because it gets filled up with teeth.”
– “I thought that if I ever decided to run away from home, I could just leave a pile of dirt somewhere in the house and my parents would think I just died since your body ‘turns back to dust/earth when you die.”
– “The ‘gift horse’ was a magical creature, like Santa Clause, that vomited gifts from its mouth, and if you tried to see where they came from, you would get hit in the face as it vomited another gift.”
