INSURANCE COMPANY DENIES DEATH CLAIM; FAMILY BRINGS THEM THE BODY
A South African insurance company was refusing to pay out a £1,700 ($2200 US) death benefit until they had proof from the family that the man, Sifiso Mhlongo, was dead. The family tried several times in different ways to show proof, but the Old Mutual Insurance Company kept stonewalling. Finally, after delaying his tribal funeral for nine days because of problems over the paperwork, they just brought the man’s dead body to the office. The man’s family said, “We thought if the documents do not give them enough answers then maybe the body will.” Video shows the family taking the body from the morgue and bringing it inside the office, where they also presented Sifiso’s insurance policy, ID, and death certificate. Old Mutual has since apologized and said the claim was paid in full the same day.
* The family had them dead to rights.
* Just for some perspective, insurance companies have £1,700 sitting around in the coffee fund jar in the break room.
* The company tried to stiff ’em, so they brought ’em the stiff.
* Pretty clever, but really, just the head would have been enough.
* If that isn’t him, it’s a dead ringer.
