INDIAN OFFICIAL DRAINS ENTIRE RESERVOIR TO RETRIEVE DROPPED PHONE

A government official in Chhattisgarh, India has been suspended after he ordered a reservoir to be drained to retrieve his phone. Rajesh Vishwas dropped the device into Kherkatta Dam while taking a selfie. He claimed it contained sensitive government data (* cough-porn-cough) and needed retrieving. It took three days to pump half a million gallons of water out of the dam, and by the time it was found the phone was too waterlogged to work. Mr. Vishwas has been accused of misusing his position.
* There goes the drinking water for the year.
* It’s like dropping your phone into the toilet x 6 billion.
* Sure, he could have hired a diver to get his phone, but that could have cost as much as $100.
* I’m sure that reservoir will fill right back up next monsoon season, which in India runs from June to May 15.
