I FORGOT

Reddit asked, “What was your worst ‘I forgot’ moment? Some of the responses:
– “Walked into Ethics class and the professor thanks everyone for turning in their mid-term paper last night. It was on the syllabus, and no one ever talked about it. I never read the syllabus. I dropped out of the class later that day.”
– “I once bought a Turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. Come the big day I looked in my fridge & couldn’t find the turkey. That’s when I remembered that I had never brought it in from the car. It had been sitting in the back of my car for almost a week.”
– “I was taking the groceries in from the trunk. My boyfriend said he’d get the rest. He didn’t notice the package of 4 butter sticks. It was mid July probably and I found it about 5 days later. It had melted out of its packaging all over the fabric in the trunk and gone rancid. I got rid of the car about a year later, it still had a funk.”
– “Years ago, before cell phones, my family was driving to pick my brother up from camp which was several hours out in the country. We stopped for gas. Dad agreed to let me sit in the front as he wanted to take a nap in the back. We get gas and all drive off. Over an hour later my mom asks my dad a question and gets no response. We both turn around to an empty back seat.”
– “I was out on a road trip one summer Saturday evening. Stopped for fuel, snacks and to check my phone. I had like 5 missed calls from different friends and a bunch of texts. Hit me like a sack of hammers, ‘I forgot my friend’s wedding was today.’ Did some highly illegal motorcycling and got there by the time the reception was starting. Looked like a hot mess and my hair was an absolute disaster but I still had fun.”

– “When I was kid my Grandma called and I picked up the phone. She asked to speak with my mom, and I said “OK, I’ll get her.” Then I got distracted and forgot. It must have been like an hour or two later when my mom noticed the phone was off the hook. She picked it up and said “Hello?” My poor grandma was still patiently waiting on the other end.”
