HEALTH DEPARTMENT WORKERS GET SICK AT CHRISTMAS PARTY

The New Mexico Department of Health threw a Christmas party for its workers. Dozens of employees became sick. The Department of Health said that about 70 staff members out of more than 200 who attended say they had gastrointestinal issues after the catered luncheon in Santa Fe last week. Health Secretary Lynn Gallgher said investigators have not identified a specific contaminated food. She told her staff that the outbreak appears likely to have been caused by bacillus cereus or clostridium perfingens, both of which can cause food-borne illness.
* But you already knew that.
* And that’s what you call irony, folks.
* Investigators have not identified a specific contaminated food? Hey, I know people slack off on the job during the holidays, but shouldn’t the Department of Health be able to figure out what made them sick?
* I thought “clostridium perfingens” was a spell in “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”?
* It sounds like these people are getting too close to their work.
* Of course, they might have been calling in sick to go Christmas shopping.
* The Christmas party was a luncheon? How cheesy is that?
* I say go back to the traditional office party blowout. All the booze will kill the germs.
* You’ll still have 70 people sick but that’ll be from hangovers.
