GROCERY STORE OWNER TRIED TO KILL CORONAVIRUS WITH FIRE

An Australian grocery store owner, who thought he had Covid-19, became so “obsessed” about possibly spreading the virus that he tried to burn himself to death to kill the microbes. Edward Guy Mason, 57, who co-owns a grocery in the town of Bruce Rock, lit three cardboard-filled shopping carts ablaze during a failed suicide attempt on March 25. When the fire spread to the store, Mason fled the inferno, and was arrested. He confessed that he believed he had Covid-19 and was protecting shoppers from the virus. Mason told officials his stress levels had been soaring because the store — which was the only one in town — had become overrun with customers and his shelves were stripped bare. He thought, “We’re getting boxes coming out of the warehouses, boxes coming from China… I felt surely there could be germs on these cartons.” The fire caused roughly $700,000 in damage to the store. Mason pleaded guilty to the arson charges.
* He wanted to set himself on fire, but when the fire really got going, he ran away. Oh, grow a pair!
* Burn down your entire store. OR – and this is just a suggestion – wear a mask and disposable gloves. Just a thought.
* He could have just stayed home, so at least you gotta admire his work ethic.
* Dude – if packages could spread the virus, Amazon would have shut down months ago.
* On the bright side, the store’s all burned and probably closed now, so – problem solved!
