GRANDPA PUSHES TRESPASSER OFF ROOF
A California grandfather took matters into his own hands when a stranger jumping on rooftops caused an hours-long police standoff last Tuesday. Willard Burgess, 83, was at his La Puenta house when the suspect police were chasing stood on his roof, refusing to come down for hours. The suspect was jumping on several rooftops in the neighborhood. Burgess got fed up, grabbed his neighbor’s ladder, and told officers he was climbing onto the roof. “That sucker’s coming off,” he told police. The grandfather then shoved the man off his roof. The unidentified man, who police say was either mentally ill or on drugs, was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.
* “Get off my roof!” SHOVE! SPLAT! “Now get off my lawn!”
* The man was “either mentally ill or on drugs,” but either way, he’s gone over the edge.
* This could have ended peacefully if he had just offered to clean Willard’s gutters.
* 83-year-old tough guy? Are they sure it’s not Chuck Norris?
