FULL MOON AT CHRISTMAS
For the first time this century, there will be a full moon in the sky on Christmas. According to The Weather Channel, there hasn’t been a full moon on Christmas since 1977, and there won’t be another till 2034. December’s moon, nicknamed the “cold moon” or “long nights moon,” will reach its peak size on Dec. 25 at around 6:11 a.m.
* Great. This year Santa has to deal with werewolves.
* “Santa, come quick! There’s blood in the barn and Blitzen is missing!”
* When I hear “full moon at Christmas” I picture Santa forgetting his suspenders and bending down to put presents under the tree.
* Scientists say the moon, when viewed on the crest of the new-fallen snow, will give a luster of midday to objects below.
* How will it compare to Rudolph, with his nose so bright?
* Come to think of it, Rudolph could take off this year.
* This should be quite a sight as you’re tearing to the mall Christmas Eve.
* That’s a coincidence. Thanks to Christmas cookies I reach my peak size around December 25th too.
* This is good. It’ll make it a lot easier for Santa’s reindeer to see where they’re going.
* I like how it says “a full moon in the sky.” Where else would it be?
* It happens in December so they nicknamed it the Cold Moon? Way to bring the imagination.
