FORD CANCELS MOVE TO MEXICO, WILL REMAIN IN MICHIGAN
Ford is canceling plans to build a new plant in Mexico. It will instead invest $700 million in Michigan, creating 700 new U.S. jobs at the Flat Rock, Michigan, plant to produce more electric and self-driving cars. Ford CEO Mark Fields said the investment is a “vote of confidence” in the pro-business environment being created by Donald Trump. However, he stressed Ford did not do any sort of special deal with the president-elect.
* Although the first car model off the line will be called the Ford Bigly.
* We’ll wait and see who gets the next big order for government cars.
* $700 million for 700 new jobs. Sounds reasonable to me.
* We’ll “Make America Great Again,” just not all at once.
* The good news, Michigan workers get jobs. The bad news: they’re still in Michigan.
* The plant will be in Flat Rock, Michigan making this the best economy story ever with the word “flat” in it.
* Unfortunately, 100 million of the investment will be needed just to dig through the flat rock.
* I just hope they had a camera rolling when they told the President of Mexico about this.
* On the bright side, these new manufacturing jobs could hold us over until World War 3 starts.
