FISH FALL FROM THE SKIES IN AUSTRALIA
It rained fish from the skies in a remote community in the Australian outback. Locals in Lajamanu, on the northern edge of the Tanami Desert in the Northern Territory, said the fish fall came during a heavy rainstorm. Central Desert councilor Andrew Johnson Japanangka said the fish were still alive as they fell, and were about “the size of two fingers.” An expert identified them as spangled grunters, which are a common freshwater fish in Australia. Children were picking them up and keeping them in bottles and jars. Amazing? No. This wasn’t nearly the first time it’s rained fish in Lajamanu. It happens periodically, reported as far back as 1974.
* Yes, but because of global warming, they came down from the skies fried, hot and ready to eat.
* If only it would also rain tartar sauce.
* Are they called grunters because that’s the sound they make when they hit the ground?
* And the “spangled” part? Make that “splattered.”
* Big deal. In America, we have sharknados. I can show you the footage.
