ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COVERED IN FISH
Just before noon last Thursday, Stanford Avenue Elementary School in Oroville, California, found itself suddenly covered in dead fish. They were everywhere, all over the playground, the lawns and on the roof. School officials aren’t sure if it was some kind of prank or if it really rained fish. The school is near a river, and few miles from the infamous Oroville Dam which recently was in danger of collapsing due to heavy rains. Thunderstorms and wind spouts can sometimes pick up small fish from a waterway and carry them elsewhere. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife believes the fish is a kind of carp and is not found in the nearby Feather River, and nobody actually saw the fish falling out of the sky, or could verify that’s where they came from.
* What does that mean? If they didn’t fall from the sky, they must have burrowed up from underground?
* Maybe it was a school of fish looking for a school.
* On the bright side: tomorrow’s lunch is fish sticks!
* If it was a prank, how discouraging that they can’t really tell.
* Today’s weather forecast: Mild temperatures with a chance of carp.
* That’s got to be one pretty confused bunch of elementary school students.
* Don’t worry if they start to smell. The smell from the cafeteria will cover it up.
* Considering they were expecting the dam to fail and wipe everything out, this is no big deal.
