ECO-ACTIVISTS ATTACKED BY BEAR THAT THEY SAY WASN’T THERE

Two eco-activists who were trying to prove a bear had abandoned its den due to logging failed to prove the bear had moved on. The activists traveled to the bear’s den in Poland’s Carpathian Mountains to show the world that logging had scared the bear away. Actually, the bear was still there. They know this because it attacked both of them on-camera, chasing them through the woods. Footage of the bear emerging to attack was captured by a camera set up to monitor the lair. One man stumbled and fell before being mauled. He was airlifted to a hospital following the attack and was said to be in a serious but stable condition. A spokesman for the Polish forestry service noted that it was foresters actually saved the lives of the eco-activists, describing the incident as an “irony of fate.”
