DOLPHINS MISS HUMANS, BRING GIFTS

In Queensland, Australia, Tin Can Bay is a popular tourist spot where wild dolphins line up to be fed fish by humans. The dolphin feeding at Barnacles Dolphin Center is regulated and closely monitored by the Queensland Government with a group of volunteers on site to ensure it is an enjoyable experience for both humans and dolphins. Since the lockdown, the dolphins are apparently missing the visitors who feed them (or the fish, more like), and have started leaving “gifts” on the beach, in an effort to lure humans back. The humpback dolphins have been leaving sponges, barnacle-covered bottles and fragments of coral on the shoreline to encourage humans to return.
* Barnacles Dolphin Enabling Center, more like.
* I’d hold out for a lobster or an errant bale of marijuana.
* Better yet, teach them how to recognize a Spanish doubloon.
* Last time I checked, the oceans had millions of fish in them. How freaking lazy are these dolphins?
* They want humans to hand-feed them? What’s with the superior attitude?
* We need to train them to go pick up some of that plastic that’s floating around in the ocean? Being cute isn’t enough anymore, they need to earn their keep.
