DJOKOVIC CAUSING PROBLEMS AT THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN OVER VACCINATION

Australians are angry – raising a racket, as it were – at the news that tennis star Novak Djokovic (pronounced JOKE-a-vitch) has been given “an exemption permission” to travel to play in the Australian Open amid a surge in Covid cases in the country. The world’s top-ranked male player has refused to reveal if he is vaccinated against Covid. Australia has had some of the world’s toughest border restrictions and only started to allow some international travel in November. Yet the tennis association is saying it’s okay for him to come play. Among the most prominent critics was a visibly angry Prime Minister Scott Morrison, who said on Wednesday that Djokovic should not get special treatment to enter the country. At last report, Djokovic was being isolated in a room at the airport without his entourage or mobile phone while officials reviewed the documentation required to prove the reason for Djokovic’s exemption, which is required from unvaccinated people. Djokovic is believed to be relying on the fact that he has had Covid within the past six months; however, it was unclear if that was sufficient to secure entry under federal guidelines.
* A spoiled athlete? Causing problems? Unheard of! Get me Antonio Brown on the phone, he’ll bring some common sense to the discussion.
* This is true – they’ve started calling him No-vax Djokovic. Talk about jokes writing themselves.
* How about if he plays but stays an extra six feet from the net? That’ll learn ‘im.
* Like they say, it’s the shots you don’t take that you’ll miss.
