DAVID BECKHAM, ROGER DALTREY, GARY OLDHAM KNIGHTED
As expected, soccer player David Beckham was officially knighted by King Charles on Friday. He is now Sir David Beckham, and his wife Victoria Beckham’s new title is Lady Beckham. Also knighted on Friday:
– The Who singer Roger Daltrey. The 81-year-old singer has been a patron of Teenage Cancer Trust since 2000, holding fundraising concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall for more than two decades. He said, “It’s kind of weird, but I am deeply honored to get this, especially for the charity for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and I accept it on their behalf really, because this honor is really for all unsung heroes.”
– Actor Gary Oldman, who won a best actor Oscar for his portrayal of Winston Churchill in 2017’s “Darkest Hour,” also received a knighthood for his services to drama.
