DAUGHTER SAVES MOM WITH WHAT SHE LEARNED IN SCHOOL
Think your kids aren’t learning anything at school? Wisconsin teen Katie Murphy, 14, learned the symptoms of a stroke at St. John’s Lutheran School in science class. Two days later, she saw her mom, Christa Murphy, experiencing those symptoms and rushed in to help. Christa went to her daughter for help after noticing she was struggling with simple things around the house, like putting toothpaste on her toothbrush. Her speech was all mixed up. Katie thought, “Maybe she’s having a stroke.” Katie called 911 and her mom was taken to the hospital. Doctors were able to confirm her diagnosis, and Mrs. Murphy is now OK.
* And Katie was fined for practicing medicine without a license.
* Well, it wasn’t as if her mom needed to know the Pythagorean Theorem, or when the Magna Carta was signed, but this was good.
* She learned the symptoms of a stroke two days before? That was a stroke of luck.
* I sometimes have those symptoms. Mostly after a long Saturday night.
* You never know when that education will kick in, kids. And Mr. President.
* She learned it at school? Weird. Usually it’s because they saw it in a movie or on television.
* They learned the symptoms of a stroke in science class? Wow, what a downer course.
* Mrs. Murphy is now OK, if you consider being a stroke victim to be OK.
* Meanwhile the daughter is demanding a huge new allowance.
