DAD FINDS BIG DIAMOND AT DIAMOND PARK
A father and daughter visiting Crater of Diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro, Arkansas found a massive 2.03-carat white diamond. Crater of Diamonds State Park features a 37.5-acre plowed field on top of a volcanic crater. It is the world’s only diamond-bearing site accessible to the public. Dan Frederick and his daughter, Lauren, said they were visiting Arkansas from their home in Renton, Washington, when they went to the park about 8 a.m. Oct. 3. In less than an hour, Dan Frederick spotted the reflection of light off the diamond just a few feet away from where he was standing. Prices for uncut diamonds vary widely, anywhere from $1,850 to more than $2,400 per carat. The family said they haven’t decided what to do with their diamond.
* Fight over it?
* I don’t buy it. Who visits Arkansas?
* Wow, they could take all that money and pay for about a third of a semester of their daughter’s college.
* Oh, wait – they had to go blab about it, so now the IRS knows.
* My guess is the tourism board planted it.
* You don’t think they just got 5 grand worth of publicity?
* How many visitors NEVER find a diamond? Maybe it should be called “Crater of the Occasional Diamond State Park.”
* Now use the words “diamond, park and crater” in a story about baseball.
* Who hopes the Cubs don’t crater before they make it to the World Series?
* Wow, how bad is Renton, Washington if you go to Arkansas for a vacation?
