CROCODILE EGG COLLECTOR ATTACKED BY (return to beginning)
An Australian crocodile egg collector was rushed to a hospital after being mauled by a — hold on, it says here, “a crocodile.” The 29-year-old man was attempting to collect eggs along the Daly River in the Northern Territory when he was attacked by the reptile, which grabbed his legs. He managed to free himself from the croc’s jaws and make it to a private helicopter, which flew him to safety. He was then rushed to a hospital. Collecting crocodile eggs is legal in Australia, with a permit, and is a lucrative business. Eggs sell for around $30 (£17) per egg, with a nest of 60 eggs fetching up to $1,800 (£1,000). Some of the eggs are transferred to so-called “crocodile farms” where the animals are raised before being killed to make luxury product like handbags and shoes from their skin.
* Like … a pair of Crocs?
* $30 an egg. So, about the same as a chicken in America.
* 30 bucks! Now THAT’S how you poach an egg.
* “Hey, Johnny, what do you want to be when you grow up?” “I want to pick one of the deadliest animals on earth, and go hunting for the one thing it’s hard-wired to protect more than anything else.”
* When the croc caught him stealing her eggs, he really had to scramble.
* Never saw Jurassic Park 3, I bet. To be fair, no one did.
