COW CUDDLING
In this era of wacky therapy pets, one couple is offering therapy cows. Rudi and Suzanne Vullers set up a bed-and-breakfast on their farm in Naples, N.Y. Suzanne is an equine therapist, teaching people how to work with horses and connect with country life. Then they got the idea of cow cuddling. With cow cuddling, you interact with cows via brushing, petting or just talking to them. The Vullers purchased Bonnie and Bella, highlander-angus crossbred cows, selecting them for their gentle personalities and lack of horns. Guests visit with the cows. Sometimes the cows spontaneously lie down in the grass while chewing their cud, allowing humans to use them as a backstop. Hourlong cow cuddling sessions are priced at $75 per couple for the hour. Each session is overseen by two human counterparts: an equine therapist, usually Ms. Vullers, who can read the animals’ moods to ensure a safe, positive interaction with their new human friends.
* Mostly the cows’ moods consist of thinking, “Who are these idiots”?
* Somewhere there’s a cattle rancher hearing this and laughing his ass off.
* The thing about cow cuddling is, they have to be in the moooooo-d
* I’d take $75 to watch some city slicker stand next to a cow for an hour.
* You get your money’s worth because one hour of petting a cow feels like three.
* Sorry, the closest I’m ever going to get to cow cuddling is caressing a Big Mac.
