COMPANY WILL RECYCLE ADULT TOYS

A Wellington, New Zealand online adult store is asking people to send in their unwanted electronic, metal and glass adult toys to its warehouse so they can be recycled. Adulttoymegastore spokeswoman Natasha Bull says it has partnered with a Wellington recycling company, which would break down the sex toys and store the materials until there was enough volume to be recycled. Batteries and circuit boards will be collected and shipped to South Korea where they’ll be stripped for recycling, and hazardous substances safely disposed of. Metal sex toys, or metal found in the products such as ball bearings and motors, would be shipped in bulk to Germany where the metals would be extracted, sorted, pressed into bales, and melted down and reformed for the next step in their life cycle. Sex toy parts such as PVC and silicone will be sent to landfill as recommended by the Ministry of Environment.
