CHINESE ZOO: OUR BEAR IS NOT A PERSON IN A BEAR SUIT

A zoo in China has felt the need to deny that its bear is a human in a costume. Angela, a Malaysian sun bear at the Hangzhou Zoo, likes to stand on her back feet and beg for food. Angela has very good posture, leading people to believe that she is just a human in a bear suit. Zoo officials note that sun bears from Malaysia are smaller than other bears, about the size of a person, and have a different appearance — but they are actual bears. Officials also said that a human inside a costume would never survive summer temperatures which soar to more than 100 degrees.
* Tell that to the live characters at Disney World.
* This doesn’t explain how, when you give Angela food, she says “Thanks, I’m starving!”
* True fact: Chinese zoos have been known to shave dogs to look like lions and paint stripes on donkeys to look like zebras.
* Also, there’s one poor zoo in China that only has one animal, a little tiny dog. It’s a real Shih Tzu. The dog, that is.
