CHILDREN GROWING HAIR ON THEIR BODIES AFTER WACKY MEDS MIXUP
This, apparently, is a true story: A group of children in Spain are growing hair all over their bodies after they were accidentally administered a hair loss drug for their indigestion two years ago. There was a packaging mix-up by Spanish pharmaceutical giant Farma-Química Sur, which resulted in a group of children in Cantabria mistakenly taking minoxidil — a topical treatment — in lieu of omeprazole, which is for acid reflux. As a result, a group of 20 children began suffering from hypertrichosis — also known as “werewolf syndrome” — which causes excess hair growth across their body. Pictures have appeared of children with a soft layer of hair across their backs. One mother reported that her 10-month-old had hair everywhere except his feet. The families have filed civil and criminal complaints against a laboratory and several companies for importing and distributing the drug as well as against two pharmacies which distributed the wrong drug.
* The parents are suing for medical bills, and the cost of all the extra kibble.
* “Here – smear this all over your kid’s body for their acid reflux.” Not a red flag?
* How bad do the kids look on a scale of 1 to the “Cats” movie?
* For their part, the kids are howlin’ mad.
* Ask ’em how they’re doing, they tell you, “rrrruff!”
* On the other hand, they’re real good at fetching a beer from the fridge.
