CHESS GRANDMASTER KICKED OUT FOR CHEATING
A Romanian chess grandmaster was expelled from a national-level competition after being accused of using a mobile device during play. Kirill Shevchenko, currently 69th in the chess world rankings, was competing at the Spanish Team Championship in Melilla, Spain, when the alleged instance of cheating occurred. According to Chess.com, Shevchenko aroused suspicion when he began spending long periods away from the board during the opening rounds of the tournament. A mobile device was later found in a restroom stall, alongside a note in a script similar to the 22-year-old Shevchenko’s handwriting.
* Maybe he was just addicted to TikTok, like everyone else.
* He wasn’t cheating so much as he kept forgetting how the little horsey things moved and had to go check.
* These guys are among the smartest people in the world, and the best cheat he can come up with is a phone in the men’s room?
* Maybe he was just going to the restroom to bang the bishop.
* Cheating at chess. What a ROOK-ie move.
