CHEESE IS A HIP HOP FAN
Last September, an experiment was begun to see if music had an effect on cheese. Turns out, it does. Swiss researchers placed nine wheels of Emmental cheese weighing 10 kilos (22 pounds) each in separate wooden crates last September. The cheese was exposed 24 hours a day to:
– A Tribe Called Quest’s hip hop track “We Got it From Here”
– Mozart’s “Magic Flute” opera
– Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven”
– Throbbing techno of Vril’s “UV”
– Yello’s dark ambient song “Monolith”
– Soundwaves at low, medium and high frequencies
– One wheel was left in peace
Instead of using loudspeakers, the experiment used mini transmitters to conduct the energy of the music directly into the aging cheese. After several months, a panel of culinary experts tasted the various cheeses. The differences were very clear, in term of texture, taste, the appearance, there was really something very different. The hip hop sample topped the list of all cheese exposed to music in terms of fruitiness. It was the strongest in terms of smell and taste. The cheesemaker behind the project said the experiment would now take 5 or 10 cheeses and put various hip hop songs on them and then compare.
* Oh, that poor cheese.
* It must be awful to listen to those beats and not be able to dance.
* They came up with the idea for this study by picking random words to fill in the blanks in this sentence: “We should study the effects of (BLANK) on (BLANK).”
* If this works, you could see some rappers get into the cheese business:
– Cardi-Brie
– Kendrick Lamarbled Cheddar
– A Tribe Called Queso
– Gucci Mane-chego
– Baby Bell Biv Devoe
– Nicki Min-asiago
