CARJACKERS TO KID IN THE BACK SEAT: "HAVE A GOOD DAY AT SCHOOL"
In Chicago, 10-year-old Richard Rodriguez got into the family car and put the key in the ignition, then crawled into the back seat to wait for his parents. Suddenly, a man and woman got into the car and drove off. The car thieves didn’t notice the boy until one of them turned around to find him sitting in the back seat. The pair eventually dropped him off in an alley and wished him well before driving away in the stolen vehicle. Rodriguez said, “When they saw I had a backpack they told me, ‘Have a good day at school.'” He was returned home safe and unharmed, although the vehicle has not been recovered and no suspects are in custody.
* It takes a village, you know.
* I suppose there’s some good news here. At least the kid didn’t steal the car.
* Plus he got a day off from school.
* What parents give their 10-year-old kid the keys to the car to put in the ignition when they’re not there? Not these parents. Not anymore.
* You know the sad part? For Chicago, this qualifies as a “warm-hearted” story.
* They had 4,331 shooting victims last year. We’ve had wars that didn’t have that many.
* It’s so bad Chicago longs for the peaceful old days of Al Capone.
* It used to be called the Windy City. Now it’s just called, “Duck!!!”
