CALIFORNIA COULD VOTE ON SPLITTING INTO THREE
Voters could get a chance to decide whether California should be split into three states this November. Venture capitalist billionaire Tim Draper, who authored an initiative to break up the Golden State, says it has received enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. The initiative will be submitted to election officials next week. The initiative proposes:
– A central state that would consist of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey and San Benito counties
– A southern state made up of Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, Imperial, Kern, Kings, Fresno, Tulare, Inyo, Madera and Mono counties
– The 40 remaining counties would be grouped into a northern state
Splitting California into three states would require congressional approval. The new states would be named by its residents.
* Aw, no, no! Please let the rest of the country vote on naming the new states:
– North Flakeland, Mid Flakeland and South Flakeland
– NEW New Mexico, Sanctuaria and Wine-tana
– South Portlandia
– West Nevada
– West-Coasta Rica
* This venture capitalist billionaire Tim Draper – he doesn’t happen to manufacture American flags, does he?
* If they wait much longer in splitting the state, the San Andreas Fault might do the job the voters won’t.
