BRITISH MAN GROWING A NEW PENIS ON HIS ARM

Have you ever heard of the case of a man growing a new ear on his arm? Doctors removed cartilage fropm his ribs, formed it into an ear, and implanted it onto his forearm so it would acquire skin and bloodvessels and nerve endings before being transplanted to the side of his head. Well… guess what body part doctors are growing on a man’s forearm now? That’s right. Malcolm MacDonald lost his penis in 2014 to a blood infection. He underwent a procedure to have a new one grown on his arm, before it could be grafted to his groin. However, medical delays have left the 45-year-old with the “unit” attached to his forearm for the last four years.
– Here’s the technical stuff: Doctors were able to roll his forearm skin – containing nerves and blood vessels – into the shape of a penis, before adding a urethra and two tubes that will allow MacDonald to pump the appendage into an erection. The plan was to attach the penis to Mr. MacDonald’s groin in 2018, two years after it had been grafted to his arm. However, he had to miss the scheduled operation due to illness, and the surgery kept being pushed back for other reasons. The delays have been hard to deal with. MacDonald says he’s unable to run because the appendage “waggles about”, and that, for obvious reasons, he cannot go swimming or wear a short-sleeved shirt. He did say, “When I saw it on my arm for the first time, I was so, so proud. I nicknamed it Jimmy.”
* Needless to say, he’s been doing arm curls non-stop for four years, working for the day that he can call it James.
* Oh, sure, he’ll wake up in the middle of the night to find the cat playing with it, but other than that it’s been no problem.
* Donating blood must be interesting.
* The one guy nobody wants to elbow-bump with.
* I want to hear more about the original blood infection, and how to never, never catch it.
